Club Atabay is a nautical and cultural center which lies in
a secluded private bay on the Sea of Marmara.
The city of Istanbul with its unique sights and excellent shopping facilities,
is only 60 kms away (about 1 hour by car). In the immediate neighbourhood is Eskihisar,
a picturesque fishing village and a favourite Turkish bathing pleasure resort.
Eskihisar has excellent local restaurants and an attractive little museum showing works
by the painter Osman Hamdi Bey.
The ruins of its imposing Citadel are well worth a visit,
as is the grave of Hannibal nearby. A car ferry over the Gulf of Izmit
gives easy access
to the lovely city of Bursa
with its mosques, bazaars
and public baths.
For transport to and from Istanbul airport
there is a hotel bus or, if required,
a motorboat is available by arrangement. |
